A very successful PPC at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish - 14 Legionaries, from various states, were at the PPC, and another 14 helped over the week.  Thanks to the Chinese Praesidia, for their participation, and to local Praesidia, and to those who provided food and rides. There were more than 3300 house calls, and about half were contacted and given Catholic literature.  The Pastor estimated that about 1/3 of the homes in his parish were visited. The Parish also was given 131 cards with the information for 131 non-practicing Catholics, for further follow up.

Fremont is a ethnically diverse suburban city of 214,000, located on the southeastern edge of San Francisco Bay. The city is 17 miles North from San Jose, 27 miles South of Oakland, and 38 miles Southeast of San Francisco. The San Francisco and Oakland International airports are nearer.

With its moderate climate and its proximity to major universities, shopping areas, recreation and cultural activities, employment centers, major airports, Fremont captures metropolitan living at its best - most of the area is of relatively recent modern construction. Fremont demographics are 50% Asian, 33% White, 17% Hispanic, 3% African American. The early inhabitants of the area were Ohlone Indians, and the first city structure, Mission San Jose, in 1797. The Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART) connects Fremont with the rest of the Bay Area - Our Lady of Guadalupe is 3.5 miles from the Fremont BART station, located near Mowry Ave, at Fremont Civic Center.

Fremont is quite sunny and warm in September - the daytime average temperature is 77 F, but it can get as hot as 100 F. Nights are cool, generally below 60 F. There is a slight chance of some rain in September - the monthly average is 0.2 inches.
