Legionaries participated. (Report by Br. Wehrmeister, Chairperson)

c) Santa Clara Conference: Brother Perlas said that many Legionaries are coming from Stockton, Sacramento
and Oakland.

d) Risk and Liability Waiver: Br. Williams said that this is becoming standard for all volunteer organizations.

e) Summer Function: The summer function was very well attended and enjoyable.

f) Rosary Rally: This will take place on Saturday, October 10 at United Nations Plaza at noon. There will be a
10:00 am Mass at the Cathedral followed by a Eucharistic Procession let by Archbishop Cordileone. All were
asked to invite and encourage parishioners to attend. The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue will be present.
Promotional leaflets for the Rosary Rally are available.

g) Praesidium Function: Br. Perlas reminded officers about holding a praesidium function to celebrate the
birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

h) Visitations: Visitation forms for each praesidium have been prepared by Sr. Miller and were distributed to
those assigned to praesidium visitation.

i) Treasurer’s Audit: Br. Williams reported that the audit of the Senatus Treasurer’s Books for 2014 has been
completed. Br. Perlas thanked all Councils who have made donations to the Senatus.

Other Concerns

Pro-Life Apostolate: Sr. Lagowski encouraged Legionaries to come on mornings between 8:00 and 11:00 am to the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, 1650 Valencia Street in San Francisco (near St. Luke's Hospital)
Pro Life Website              40 Days for Life Facebook

Risk and Liability Waiver: The original signed copy for each member should remain with the praesidium’s vice president.  A copy of the signed copy for each member should be given to the Council Vice-President.  Br. Williams noted that the signing of the waiver is the least we can do.  By following the rules of our organization we are also more able to be protected by the laws governing volunteers.  We also want to have practical safety procedures.

Other Matters: Brother Perlas announced that a Book Barrow Chairperson is needed.  Subscriptions to Maria Legionis were encouraged.  Subscription envelopes are available after the meeting.

Below, an excerpt from Porta fide - Emeritus Pope Benedict urges us to publicly profess our faith: "Confessing with the lips indicates in turn that faith implies public testimony and commitment. A Christian may never think of belief as a private act. Faith is choosing to stand with the Lord so as to live with him. This “standing with him” points towards an understanding of the reasons for believing. Faith, precisely because it is a free act, also demands social responsibility for what one believes.

The Church on the day of Pentecost demonstrates with utter clarity this public dimension of believing and proclaiming one’s faith fearlessly to every person. It is the gift of the Holy Spirit that makes us fit for mission and strengthens our witness, making it frank and courageous." With the Apostolic Letter of 11 October 2011, Pope Benedict XVI declared a Year of Faith.
The Legion of Mary will continue their ongoing efforts at Evangelization, which remains the central work of the Legion. If you are a Catholic and want to help your Church, please join the Legion of Mary.
