Family Rosary Crusade 2011 !!

                          Fr. Peyton's  Rosary Crusade. If you cannot attend, please pray for the success of this event.

1) Seattle Comitium Report:  They held a 90th anniversary Mass for the Legion on Sept. 10, at which their former Spiritual Director, Fr. William Treacy, presided.  The archdiocesan newspaper had an article on the celebration.  Br. Simpson stated that Fr. Treacy has been with the Comitium since its founding in 1946.   The Comitium has 13 praesidia and 10 curiae attached.  The secretary, Sr. Westermeyer, is moving back to Germany.  Our Lady of Humility Praesidium has five active members who take Holy Communion to the homebound and promote Divine Mercy devotion.  Mystical Rose Praesidium has 7 active members who bring Holy Communion to hospital patients, nursing homes, and those who are homebound.  Our Lady of Perpetual Help Praesidium has 14 active members who visit the sick. They also organized a book barrow at which they spoke to 340 people.  Star of the Sea Curia has 26 attached Korean praesidia, including two junior praesidia.  They care for those attending RCIA, visit parishioners, and also held a retreat.  Mother of Martyrs Curia has 14 praesidia including one junior and one young adult.  They visit families in Tacoma and Federal Way.  Mother of Holy Eucharist Curia has three praesidia.  Works undertaken include Pilgrim Virgin and book barrow at county fairs.  Our Lady of Guadalupe Curia has three praesidia including a Spanish Praesidium, which recruited 10 new members after a Columban Drive.  One spiritual director is going to concentrate on door-to-door visitation to find lapsed Catholics.  (Report by Br. 2) Rogue Valley Curia: Fr. Kelly Vandahey has become the spiritual director of the curia and Fr. Dominic Tumusilme spiritual director of Mother of the Redeemer Praesidium.  On September 8 a Mass and lunch was held with talks on Mary, the Legion and Frank Duff.  Mother of the Redeemer Praesidium has 5 active members, 2 praetorians and 102 auxiliary members including 6 adjutorians.  Members take Holy Communion to the sick and homebound and have restarted the chaplaincy program at the hospital.  They hope to start door-to-door visitation, a junior praesidium and Patricians Group.  They are promoting the Family Rosary Crusade.

3) Salinas Curia:  On November 6 they will have a Mass celebrated by Bishop Richard Garcia at Carmel Mission Basilica to the mark the 90th anniversary of the Legion of Mary. Sr. Fabi and Sr. Peterson visited the council in August.  They have 6 attached praesidia.  Madonna del Sasso Praesidium has 8 members who do door-to-door visitation, book barrow, hospital visitation and promote the Divine Mercy.  Our Lady Help of Christians visits the prison at Soledad and hope the chaplain will allow a praesidium there.  (Report prepared by Sr. Fabi, Correspondent and read by Sr. Peterson)

4) South San Mateo Curia:  The 50th anniversary of the curia will be celebrated December 4 at St. Francis Church in East Palo Alto with a Mass celebrated by Fr. Goode. They held their 600th meeting on October 6.  The curia covers 17 parishes of which 9 have no praesidium.  They plan to visit each pastor and the parishioners in the next few months. They have 13 attached praesidia.  Immaculate Heart of Mary Praesidium has 7 active and 69 auxiliary members who teach CCD, do door-to-door visitation, take Holy Communion to the homebound and promote adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  Their goal is to do more door-to-door.  Our Lady of the Pillar has 10 active and 71 auxiliary members.  They bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, and distributeda total of 2,314 Holy Communions.  They brought the statue of the Blessed Mother to 26 homes.  Mother of Divine Grace has 6 active and 18 auxiliary members.  They visit and bring Holy Communion to the homebound and those in residential care facilities.

5) Portland Curia:  They have three attached praesidia.  Efforts are being made to promote door-to-door visitation in the curia.  The curia president is encouraging all members to read about the founder of the Legion, Frank Duff.  They have a new secretary and will be electing a new vice-president.  On September 17 they held a celebration for the 90th anniversary of the Legion of Mary.
