Archived Allocutio of the San Francisco Senatus 104th Meeting, October, 2012
Fr. Lawrence Goode
Spiritual Director of the SF Senatus

"Today is the beginning of the Year of Faith, the 50th Anniversary of Vatican II, 20 years after the promulgation of the Catholic Catechism, and close to the 25th anniversary of the visit of Blessed Pope John Paul II to San Francisco. The reason for the Year of Faith is for a New Evangelization, and the Synod on the New Evangelization is taking place in Rome. We need to pray for the success of the Synod, and read what the Bishops have declared - the Holy Spirit speaks through them."
[if you would like to read a summary of the synod, click on this link to the National Catholic Register]

"Pray for Archbishop Cordileone, just installed as the 9th Archbishop of San Francisco, in October. The Archbishop visited my parish in East San Mateo, St. Francis of Assisi, and stayed a long time. Our parishioners gave him a royal welcome.
I would like to see a list of all the Spiritual Directors of the South San Mateo Curia. Many young priests are members of the Legion of Mary, and we need to encourage them."

"My Spanish speaking Praesidium at St. Francis of Assisi, is very interested in the True Devotion of St. Louis de Montfort, as should every Legionary. (St. Louis De Montfort   True Devotion)

[You can read True Devotion online, Link, or, if you want to purchase the book, True Devotion, or for Kindle, Link

The Seattle Comitium, in Br. Simpson's report, continues its splendid work with converts, and I would like to encourage a visit to the Baker Diocese up in Washington, for extension there....also, credit to Salinas Curia for their growth..."

"The Upcoming October Rosary Rally here in San Francisco (now completed), is to commemorate The Year of Faith, and of course, every Legionary should attend."

The October 2009 Allocutio, given by Fr. Goode at the San Francisco Senatus of the Legion of Mary

(Quote from the June Allocutio, by Fr. Goode)

"The year of Faith, Porta Fide, declared by Pope Benedict, begins on October 11th, 2012. (This is two days prior to our Rosary Rally, which will be held in UN Plaza in San Francisco, on October 13th). The Porta Fide is the beginning of a new evangelization. Once again, I ask that you read the Pope's Apostolic Letter - [a link to his online document is here Porta Fidei and below on this page]. It is especially important for us to evangelize those who have abandoned the Faith, and walked away, and we know that this involves so many people in San Francisco and the Bay Area. We Legionaries must build bridges to those who have wandered away. I'd like to recommend some books, which will help in building bridges. One is Mathew Kelly's Rediscovering Catholicism, which is motivational, and the second is Catholicism, by Fr. Robert Barron, which explains the faith to intellectuals who have distanced themselves from the Church." Also, let me recommend another book on evangelization, by Diane Moczar, “Converts and Kingdoms.”

The Books recommended by Fr. Goode are available online at e.g.,, in both paperback and hardbound copies.

The Church in Ireland hosted the worldwide 50th International Eucharistic Congress

                                             June 10th to 17th, 2012, in Dublin,

Young people were especially invited and sought after.
The Theme was: The Eucharist: Communion with Christ, and with One Another
Also of great significance was A New Evangelization, particularly important for the renewal of the Church in Ireland.
The Legion of Mary played an important role in the last Dublin Eucharistic Congress, in 1932.
The size of a Eucharistic Congress can be judged by the fact that 3000 volunteers were needed for this event.
