Allocutio (November, 2010)
  Fr. Lawrence Goode, Senatus Chaplain

"November is the time of prayer for the deceased, and we have the special responsibility to pray for deceased Legionaries.  Longtime Legionary Lou Keeshan died on October 17, and Br. John Lopes in the past year.  These men, and other Senior Legionaries, were the first participants in much of today's Senatus Legion works. And Veterans Day is coming up, so let’s keep those who died defending us, in our prayers as well.  Later this month we have Thanksgiving day, the Feast of Christ the King, and the beginning of Advent, and then Christmas, so it is the best time of the year for evangelization, the time for the family and Christmas Carols. It is a great opportunity for the street apostolates, even though it is a busy time for everyone...
We are still enjoying the victory of the Giants in the World Series, which is a parable for us.  The team had no big names, but was able to beat the other teams who were supposed to win.  [An interesting Giant sidelight: Pitcher Tim Lincecum wears a bracelet with picture tiles of the Saints].  We as Legionaries also go out, (with or without beards), against great odds, but we have the very best coaching - Jesus and Mary, on our side...
Great to hear that many Senatus Legionaries, and others from around the West, worked at the Stockton PPC. And there was excellent participation by the Legionaries in the Stockton Comitium, the Parish seminarian, and local Catholic organizations like the Knights of Columbus, as well...
There were so many good works reported by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel praesidium:  Book Barrow, recruiting children for CCD, and RCIA, which is a good opportunity to find new members for the Legion of Mary. Idaho Comitium is making good use of Catholic Radio and the Idaho Catholic newspaper. It’s wonderful there are Legionaries at the North Pole as part of the Anchorage Comitium, so Senatus has a direct line to Santa Claus. Get those reindeer in shape for more evangelizing this winter...  And, congratulations to the Sacramento Comitium on the 75th anniversary! Somehow we let our own SF Legion 75th anniversary get by us, without a celebration. There are so many good reports at Senatus, and I am  thrilled by these reports, and I can’t get enough of them. I don’t understand why officers are not here to listen and act on them, so please come, and don't neglect your basic duty as officers!
Of course, Senatus wishes all Legionaries everywhere to have a good Thanksgiving, and, if you need to work off some of that wonderful home cooking, get out and do some Evangelizing!"

Afterwards, before leaving, Fr. Goode gave his blessing for a successful PPC, and to the entire Senatus
