 Br. Ando Perlas
President Elect of the San Francisco Senatus

"Some have said that the Legion of Mary is not ecumenical, because the primary purpose of the Legion is to convert people to the Catholic Church.  This is counter to the prevalent Ecumenical belief that all Christian sects and Churches should be treated the same, so that there will one unified Christian Church.  Yet, our Creed says that we are one, holy, Catholic and apostolic church, clearly stating we are the true Church. Thus, the Legion has kept the tradition of seeking conversions.  Are we up to the task?  Do we have the knowledge?  Do we feel the desire to do this?  Or, do we too easily stop when we find people during door-to-door who aren’t Catholic? We must invite people to become Catholic, and give them our material to show that the Catholic Church is the one true church."

"Meanwhile, Catholics are leaving and joining other religions, and  those saying goodbye are greater in number than those converted to Catholicism.  There are not many in RCIA, and each Parish has only a few new Catholics at Eastertide.   We must increase our efforts to gain converts.  Frank Duff advised us not to rely on the media, but rather on person-to-person contact.  We are the only Catholic organization which has the structure to do what the apostles accomplished - as ordinary people, to draw people to Christ and His Church. Go back to the handbook, and read it carefully.    Prepare yourself – know your approach. We should increase our knowledge, and have a great desire to introduce people to the Church, and have them baptized as Catholics."

The Church in Ireland hosted the worldwide 50th International Eucharistic Congress
                                             June 10th to 17th, 2012, in Dublin,

Young people were especially invited and sought after.
The Theme was: The Eucharist: Communion with Christ, and with One Another
Also of great significance was A New Evangelization, particularly important for the renewal of the Church in Ireland.
The Legion of Mary played an important role in the last Dublin Eucharistic Congress, in 1932.
The size of a Eucharistic Congress can be judged by the fact that 3000 volunteers were needed for this event.
